Useful Information
Children with medical conditions
We ask parents to inform us of any medical condition their child has, even if it is not likely to affect them in school or would not require medication in school.
If your child receives first aid first aid, an accident form will be completed, and a copy sent home with your child. In the case of head injuries, parents will be contacted by telephone.
Norovirus
Norovirus, also known as the winter vomiting bug, is the most common stomach bug in the UK. Children must stay at home for 48 hours from the last episode of sickness or diahrroea.
Protecting your child against flu
NHS staff provide Nasal Flu vaccinations to children attending the school. Permission will be requested at the time.
Headlice
Head lice remain a common part of primary school life. School staff do not check children’s hair. Because children spend so much time both playing and learning together, it is all too easy for head lice to spread. Anyone can get them and, contrary to popular belief, catching head lice has nothing to do with personal hygiene.
Parents are advised to check each child’s hair weekly and not wait for there to be symptoms. This is by far the best way to prevent head lice.
Birthday treats
It is the School’s policy not to allow cakes or sweets to be shared when it is a child’s birthday. As a school committed to promoting healthy choices and lifestyles, we actively encourage healthier eating and are also committed to remaining particularly vigilant to protect children either with specific dietary allergies or those whose beliefs call for them to follow particular dietary regimes. Please do adhere to this policy, as we want to avoid children and their parents being disappointed or any treats being wasted.
