Choosing a secondary school

Applications can be made during the period 1 September to 31 October each year. If your child attends West Wimbledon Primary School, you will be provided with further information from Merton, via the school. If your child does not attend a Merton school, please go to Merton Council website the September before your child is due to move to secondary school to make an on-line application.

For pupils in Treetops, or with an EHCP, the transfer to secondary school (year 7) process should begin in the year 5 annual review. This is when the EHCP must be updated to reflect children's current needs and the provision they will require for secondary school. This is also a good point to start visiting possible secondary schools in Year 5 so that the decision can be made in good time as pupils with an EHCP must submit their preferences for secondary school in the September of Year 6.
